About Kristin Sassi

At the heart of Sassi Pants Yoga is Kristin Sassi who teaches Yoga & Nada Yoga (The Yoga of Sound) as a design for living. She specializes in moving students through Yoga as a path towards peace under duress, whether a high-stress career, trauma, recovery from addiction, personal tragedy, or even managing everyday stress. Rooted in compassion and a deep respect for the traditions, her teachings channel the timeless, healing wisdom of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Upanishads, and the Bhagavad Gita. A national finalist speaker, musician, performer, yogin, and teacher, she shares her full heart in every class.

She teaches equanimity, ease in action, a calmness and clarity that endures even in chaos. She guides students through meditation in her very own style of Yoga Nidra, where seeds of intention are planted and manifested. In her vigorous Vinyasa Flow class, her students tap into their inner warrior, gaining flexibility and strength.

She teaches the passive practices of Yin and Restorative Yoga to open the body and relax the mind. Every class is infused with Sacred Sound Healing, using crystal and Tibetan bowls, and other percussive instruments designed to calm the mind and open the chakras. Finally, she teaches the elements and traditions of yoga that truly make it yoga: the asanas (postures), pranayama (breath), mudras (meditation hand seals), mantras (sacred affirmations), and meditation.

Training & Credentials

Kristin has been teaching for over ten years and has led more than 5,000 classes. She completed her teacher training at Yoga by Degrees, is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (ERYT), and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She also holds a trauma-sensitive certification from Healing Lotus, and she is an insured practitioner.

For the past ten years she has taught Yoga Nidra guided meditation, with meditation influences from Tracee Stanley and Satyananda Saraswati.

Before music and yoga, Kristin was a competitive public speaker. She was a member of the national champion speech team at Bradley University, a national finalist at national tournaments, and she spoke at the Smithsonian Institution during the Interstate Oratorical Association tournament.

From Singer-Songwriter to Sound Practitioner

Kristin spent many years as a working musician, writing, singing and performing as a singer-songwriter. She became a yoga teacher first, and weaving sound into her classes was a natural transition for someone who has lived so much of her life in music. That experience shapes how she approaches her sound bath meditations and the way she plays traditional sacred instruments: with a performer's ear and a teacher's care. Teaching Through Change

For years, yogis have enjoyed Kristin's teachings locally in her county just west of Chicago. In the spirit of Arjuna who found calm in the face of defeat, after the closing of the studios in the height of the pandemic, she turned this setback into an opportunity to share the heart of her teachings, virtually, to anyone in the world. Today Kristin has returned to the studio, where she prefers to teach: live and in person. But what she learned along the way stays with her. She now has the knowledge and the capability to offer classes, sound baths and team sessions virtually, for anyone who cannot be in the room.
