Life over Livelihood

My doctor has classified me "at risk" if I get COVID19. Part of my story of how I arrived to yoga (and also how I worked in the holistic health industry previously) has to do with my struggle with three different auto immunes and chronic inflammation. My doctor has recommended I receive the vaccine with the 1C group (for those with underlying conditions) in Illinois, which I hope will be soon.

Like so many people, I must wait my turn and be very, very careful. When Illinois went back to phase 4, mitigations eased for group fitness. Although the Department of Health says that 'best practices' include wearing a mask in group fitness, it is not mandatory right now.

As a result, most yoga studios are giving their students the option to wear a mask on the mat if it is socially distanced. Given the new strains of COVID19 that are headed our way, this ease in restrictions means that I must choose my life over my livelihood.

My hope is to return to live studio classes after I have been vaccinated. In the meantime, if you want to see me, please take virtual classes. I am doing my best to stay creative and adapt. I plan on offering live classes outside when the weather breaks. To all of my virtual students, thank you. Your continued support means so much to me. Stay safe. Blessings to all of you.
